The microfluid chip is a device that integrated multiple laboratory functions in one fluid chip. Most of the times the microfluid chip is made out of photolithography. This has been the replacement of silicon during the last years. The great thing of the microfluid chip is that it enables doctors to have certain laboratory techniques in one small chip. This way the doctor can do specific examinations that were otherwise impossible outside the laboratory.
Advantages of the microfluid chip
There are many advantages of the microfluid chip that are specific to the adaptation of the chip. First of all, these chips have a very low volume consumption. This means that there is less waste and that they require less sample volumes. Next to this, the short diffusion distances enable quick response times and enable faster analyzing on the data. This, in turn, leads to a better and faster process control. On top of this, the system is very compact and the chips are rather small. Also, the chip is able to verify its quality automatically. At last, the chips are very cheap to produce compared to other chips with the same capacity. This enables the use as disposable chip, which is very often needed in doctor examinations.
There are, however, also disadvantages to the use of the microfluid chip. A few of these disadvantages are listed below:
